To the nation on the occasion of the celebrations of the 55th anniversary of the Independence of Mauritius and the 31st anniversary the Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth addressed the Mauritian nation on national television. At the beginning, he spoke about the solidarity and discipline of Mauritians to face all the difficulties we have to face. His government has invested massively in health. His government will be ruthless against drug traffickers.
But the highlight of the speech is education. The Prime Minister reminded us that education is a pillar of our journey. In 2018, the government has heard free education in the tertiary and has given a lot of help to Special Education Needs. The government has invested in education in our children. The Prime Minister announced that pre-primary schools will be free from the start of the school year 2024. Children aged 3 to 5 will have equal access to quality pre-primary schooling.
His government will propose a “grant-in-aid” system and invite private pre-schools to participate. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Education are already working on the project,” said Pravind Jugnauth.
