According to the British Sunday Times, the Mauritian police investigation into the murder of Michaela Harte, found dead while on her honeymoon at the former Legends Hotel, Grand Gaube, on January 10, 2011, is now closed. However, the Mauritian police has not yet commented the content of the article of the British publication. It’s been 13 years since this tragedy. The murder of North Irishwoman Michaela Harte remains a tragedy.
Belfast Telgraph yesterday wrote the following:
For more than 12 years, the McAreavey and Harte families have fought a dignified campaign as they seek justice for murdered Michaela.
The only daughter of legendary GAA manager Mickey Harte, Michaela was found strangled to death in the bath of a hotel room in Mauritius on January 10, 2011.
The 27-year-old was on her honeymoon with husband John McAreavey.
Ever since, John has headed a campaign aimed at bringing those responsible for Michaela’s death to book.
News that a police review of the investigation into the murder has failed to identify any new leads is yet another setback, but it’s by no means the end. Indeed, long and arduous fights for justice are nothing new in Northern Ireland.
