They were about fifteen pensioners to demonstrate their anger and dismay in front of the Parliament on Friday, February 4. They deplore the fact that the government has decided to change the date of payment of their pension from the 4th to the 7th of each month.
These people, often destitute and facing various hardships such as illness, a situation of disability or with disabled children, are outraged by the decision of the authorities. These pensions, they say, are their only income and they rely on it to meet their daily needs.
Like a pregnant woman living in precariousness with a disabled child. In front of the policemen present, she assures that she has nothing to eat and that she will not be able to feed her children without this help. She wonders how she will manage to wait until the 7th of the month when she has nothing to eat and she had come to the bank today to get her pension.
She didn’t expect things to change. Others still expected to get this money to pay their rent.
On the side of the authorities this decision, which came into force this month, aims to reduce the risks of overpayment ʹ. This is one of the measures to address overpayments to deceased persons.
