Lawyer Akil Bissessur, his partner Doomila Moheeputh and his brother Avinash Bissessur were arrested this morning by the Special Striking Team (SST). This followed the receipt of a parcel containing a quantity of ecstasy addressed to the lawyer. The parcel is believed to have been sent from Germany.
A controlled delivery operation was set up this morning. Subsequently, searches were carried out at Akil Bissessur’s home in Dreamton Park, Sodnac, as well as his brother’s home in Sodnac.
The Bissessur brothers and Doomila Moheeputh were taken to the Central Barracks where they will be questioned as part of the investigation.
