National awards were presented, this morning, to National Day Awardees, Dr Sudhir Hazareesingh and Mr Paul S. Reichler, by the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun, in presence of the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, during an insignia ceremony held at the State House, in Réduit.
The Vice-President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Marie Cyril Eddy Boissezon; the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, Minister of Tourism, Mr Louis Steven Obeegadoo; and the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun graced the award ceremony.
The National Awards were conferred as follows:
Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (G.C.S.K) conferred on the National Day 2020 to Dr Sudhir Hazareesingh for contribution in the academic field.
Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (G.C.S.K) conferred on the National Day 2022 to Mr Paul S. Reichler for contribution to the decolonisation process of Mauritius.
