Despite the measures put in place to contain the dengue epidemic, it continues to spread. As at Tuesday 23 April, 339 cases of dengue fever had been recorded in Mauritius and 126 in Rodrigues. Since the first case was detected on 11 December 2023, the number of cases has continued to rise. Since that date, a total of 4,723 cases have been recorded in Mauritius and 2,041 in Rodrigues.
5 deaths have been registered up to now.
Outside the capital, the North is the worst affected region.
Following last Sunday’s heavy rains, the authorities are asking the public to remain vigilant and to take additional measures to prevent the spread of dengue fever.
