A raid by police officers from the Rose-Belle Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) was conducted at the home of a Midlands driver, who is suspected of being involved in illicit trafficking, this Saturday morning, February 5. The police officers were to find 49 cannabis plants in the bathroom of Shammi Kapoor Rammundun, 46 years old. The value of these plants measuring between 6 cm and 37 is of Rs 147 000.
The search of this ADSU team, led by Sergeant Vydelingum, was made after hours of surveillance after they received information that this forty-year-old is involved in a drug transaction. These 49 cannabis plants were in plastics next to a hot tub in a bathroom.
Shammi Kapoor Rammundun was arrested under a charge of drug trafficking for the cultivation of cannabis. He will be brought before the Bail and Remad Court in Port-Louis this Sunday, February 5 before being placed in a police cell. On Monday morning, February 7, he will have to appear again before the court in Curepipe.
