A man has been arrested for stealing two bottles of high-end perfume from the shelves of a shop located at the Victoria Urban Terminal in Port Louis. The report was made during an inventory carried out on Monday morning, September 19. After surveillance camera footage from the shop was viewed, a man was seen hiding the two bottles before leaving the shop on Sunday, September 18, at around 11.43am. The value of the theft is Rs 9,460.
A 28-year-old shop assistant reported the theft on Monday afternoon (September 19) at the Central Barracks police station. In her complaint, she explained that at about 11:43am on Sunday 18 September to Monday morning of 19 September at about 2:30pm, two bottles of perfume were stolen from the shelves of this shop. These perfumes are a 100 ml eau de parfum of the brand Yves Saint Laurent at Rs 5180 and another 60 ml bottle of the same brand at Rs 4280.
On Monday morning, September 19, the saleswoman viewed the shop’s CCTV footage along with the manager. It was then that she saw a man stealing these two bottles of perfume at around 11.43 am on Sunday, September 18. The man left the shop without paying the bill.
The shop assistant told police that she will be able to identify the man. The Criminal Investigation Division of the Southern Division has been assigned to the investigation.
