50 years in music was worth writing a book. That’s what Rodriguan singer Roy Speville offers us in Une voix une fois. Published by Logos Publicity, the book will be officially launched on November 23 at the Hennessy Park Hotel.
Roy Speville is an artist who is no longer represented in the Indian Ocean region. With a strong background in music, he has just published Une voix une fois, a 120-page book: “The idea came during the confinement. At first, I wanted to write an autobiography. Then along the way, I decided to leave a cultural legacy to the younger generation,” explains the artist.
The book is divided into several parts: “There is certainly the autobiographical part where I tell my life. But the book also contains poems, thoughts, my songs with their scores. I also dedicate a part of my book to the expressions rodriguaises which are lost. I open a parenthesis here to say that the 500 copies of the book are already out of stock in Rodrigues.”
Launched in Rodrigues on October 22, the official launch in Mauritius will be on November 23 at the Hennessy Park Hotel.
