Joyce Veerasamy is a candidate in the elections that will elect six new members to the Mauritius Society of Authors – MASA on July 10. Running in the category of authors/composers, the artist wants to reinvent MASA.
Joyce has been in the music business for 45 years. Former member of the group Fangourin and talent scout, the artist wants to give a new life to MASA if he is elected: “MASA lacks everything. It is in a deplorable sadness. Once elected, I plan to take a general inventory to make sure the organization can function properly.”
The welfare of artists will also be one of his priorities: “I have always worked for the cause of artists, so I feel that my presence on the board can help better advocate for artists.”
Optimistic, Joyce is almost certain of his election: “My numerous positions in favor of artists and my popularity with this community make me have all my chances. So far, several artists have already expressed their support. Everything leads us to believe that I will be one of the six members who will be elected on July 10th.
