Nazim Gurib, the Chairman of Plaine Magnien, Kersley Nadal and Vashil Jasgray, Councillors of the same village, have been summoned to Rose-Belle’s police station. They are assisted by various lawyers, including Kishore Pertab and Neelkanth Dulloo, who spoke about “persecution”.
Their summons follows incidents at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau in the village last Wednesday where, according to a complaint lodged to the police, a meeting was disrupted. The meeting was hosted by Minister Bobby Hurreeram with Minister Stephan Toussaint, MP Kavi Doolub and several representatives of various state agencies in attendance. The meeting was held at the CAB, which, according to the health protocols, is not supposed to operate.
Nazim Gurib, President of the Plaine-Magnien Village Council as well as Councillor Vashil Jasgray have been taken into custody. Thus, these two Councillors and a local resident will be spending the night in detention and will be heard again.
The Councillors are being questioned by the CID of Rose-Belle.
