A 16-year-old girl from the Vallée Pitot area of Port-Louis was admitted to the Hôpital du Nord on the evening of Tuesday February 6 after being sexually abused by two men on the public beach in Grand Baie. The men, father and son, are being sought by the police.
At around 1.50am on Wednesday February 07, a police officer from the Family Protection Brigade of the Northern Division went to a room at the Hôpital du Nord to meet a 50-year-old woman from the coastal village of Grand Baie. This handywoman explained that her 16-year-old daughter, who lives in Vallée Pitot, was at home. It was around 5 p.m. when she went to the Grand Baie public beach near the National Coast Guard station.
It was around 8 p.m. when her daughter returned home traumatized and in a terrible state, with her black tights torn. Her daughter confided that she had been raped by two men in turn. She only knows their first names, and they live in Grand Baie. The mother immediately took her daughter to the local police station before she was taken to the North Hospital. After being examined by a doctor, she was admitted to the ward following protocol for victims of sexual abuse.
Still in a state of shock, the teenager was unable to make any statement.
