The horse of the year 2020, Patrol Officer, won The ‘Coupe des Présidents’ last year. He will battle with two good horses, Twist Of Fate and Spring Man, to win this race again on Sunday at the Champ-de-mars racecourse.
Patrol Officer won his five races in 2020, and he was crowned horse of the year after his last win over 2100m in the ‘Coupe des Présidents’. The Gilbert Rousset-trained horse has not won a single race since then. He ran in the money five out of his six outings in 2021. Patrol Officer was lacked extra in the Maiden Cup (2400m – G1) and finished fourth. He had a good break and he is back to his best. He did very well in the Golden Trophy (2200m – G2) finishing second behind Alshibaa, and beating Twist Of Fate. He can bounce back as he will have the advantage of carrying less lead on his back.
Twist Of Fate is a classy horse. He won The Duchess Of York Cup (1400m – G2), and he finished second in The Barbe Cup (1600m –G1) and third in the Maiden Cup. He also had some time to rest after the Maiden Cup. He did some excellent gallops and he is in good shape. He showed that he can perform over long trips and he will be a hard nut to crack.
Spring Man won over 2100m last time. He cannot be in a better shape than he is now. He showed big improvements during the training sessions. He will try to take full advantage of his lightweight by trying to win the race from pillar to post.
