The stayers are back only two weeks after The Maiden Cup (2400m – G1). Million Dollar Man, the big favorite, Holy Warrior and Favour are resuming competition rather quickly to compete in the main event which will be run over 2100m this Saturday at the Champ-de-mars racecourse.
Million Dollar Man rocketed through the categories this season. He started his 2022 campaign winning 0-26. He won his three other races, and he did well in the Maiden Cup over 2400m, taking fourth place. A very good performance for this gelding who has now a ‘Merit Rating’ of 72.
Million Dollar Man had a good pace and an excellent finish. The Brazilian jockey José Da Silva can opt race just off the pace by following behind the leader before changing gears in the last 400m. The horse trained by Samraj Mahadia will be the horse to beat.
Trainer Ramapatee Gujadhur will have two runners in this special race paying tribute to his grandfather Rajcoomar Gujadhur. Holy Warrior will be a big runner. This pure stayer lacked extra and finished sixth in the Maiden Cup. He can try his luck by trying to win from pillar to post in that small field and he has the stamina to hold off his opponents on the final straight. Favor was disappointing in The Maiden Cup. He raced at the back, and he lacked finish. He can only do better this time. Tsitsikamma Dance will only carry 50.5 Kg. Which will be a big advantage compared to the heavy weights carried by the other three runners in this race. He nearly won over 2100m in 2021 finishing second only 0.30L behind Spring Man. He will race from the back hoping the weight difference will help him a lot the final straight.
