A 43-year-old gardener fell from a height of six and a half meters from the second floor of the Ebene Junction building and landed on the ground in the underground parking lot. The victim Shachin Chandranath Gopaul, also known as Shachin, a resident of Camp Faithful, Henrietta did not survive his injuries. The autopsy attributed his death to a cerebral hemorrhage due to a skull fracture.
It was shortly after 10 o’clock on the morning of Thursday, April 13 that this tragic accident occurred. The 40-year-old gardener was working on the second floor of the Ebène Junction building when a plywood collapsed under his weight. He then landed on the ground in the underground parking lot. He fell from a height of 20 feet.
He was seriously injured and was bleeding profusely from his head. An ambulance from Wellkin Hospital was dispatched to the scene to transport him to that medical facility. He was treated before being admitted to an intensive care unit. In the meantime, the Rose Hill Police Station was alerted and dispatched a team to Ebene Junction. Shachin Gopaul unfortunately passed away at around 12:15 pm on the same day.
His body was later taken to the Victoria Hospital morgue in Candos for an autopsy. The autopsy, conducted by Dr. Sudesh Kumar Gungadin, head of the forensic department of the police, attributed his death to a cerebral hemorrhage caused by a skull fracture.
Funeral services for Shachin Gopaul were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 14. He was cremated in Phoenix. An investigation has been initiated at the Rose Hill Police Station to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
Shachine Gopaul has been living with Martina Fortuna for five years. From this relationship was born a two and a half year old boy. The victim, who was divorced, is the father of a 14 year old girl. It was around 11 am that his girlfriend was informed of the accident by a company official.
According to the information obtained by his companion, his companion had received instructions to collect leaves on a platform.
