A 74-year-old man was left with three fractured ribs after being savagely assaulted by four women, allegedly prostitutes. The misadventure of this inhabitant of a village in the north of the country began at the bus station of Mahébourg while he was about to go to his brother’s home in Rivière des Galets. These women offered him a ride to his brother’s house, before taking him to an abandoned house. He was robbed of the sum of Rs 8,000 he had in his possession and was forced to sign withdrawal forms on three occasions. In total, he was robbed of Rs 72,000.
In the early evening of Friday, October 28, around 6 pm, the septuagenarian had arrived at the bus station of Mahébourg, and was waiting for a bus to go to his brother’s house in Rivière des Galets. At a certain moment, he was accosted by a woman. She was later joined by three other women. The first woman informed him that there was a transport going to Rivière des Galets. In the company of these four women, he took place on board a 4 x 4. About ten minutes later, this vehicle stopped in front of an abandoned house.
The woman, whom he had met earlier, asked him if this was her brother’s house. After he answered in the negative, she was to tell him, “pa koze sinon mo touy twa”. He was forcibly pulled out of this 4 x 4 and taken inside this house where he was beaten by these four women. He was robbed of his eight Rs 1,000 bills, his bank card and his national identity card.
For three nights, he was deprived of food and water. He was locked inside this house. During the night, he could hear the voice of this woman outside. On Monday, October 31, this woman came to him and threatened to harm him, “si ou kriye”. She blindfolded him and took him to a vehicle where she talked to a man. That day, she made him sign two withdrawal forms in front of a bank that had not been recorded. He was later taken to a house in good condition.
On Tuesday, November 01, the same method was used so that he was taken to a bank to make a withdrawal before being brought back to the house in good condition where he spent the night under the supervision of a man as on the previous days. On Wednesday, November 2, a team of police officers arrived at this location to free him before taking him to the New France police station where his son was waiting.
After confiding in his son, and as he was still suffering from body pains on Thursday, November 3, he was taken to the North Hospital. After an X-ray examination, he was found to have three rib fractures. The investigators of the Criminal Investigation Division of Mahébourg are on a good track to find one of these four women.
