A police operation was mounted in the early evening of Friday 22 April by elements of the Divisional Supporting Unit (DSU) of the Eau-Coulée police station to apprehend Bangladeshi nationals in an irregular situation in Mauritius. The exercise, led by Inspector Curum, resulted in the arrest of four Bangladeshi nationals. They were placed in a cell at the detention center of Vacoas until they are deported.
This operation started at around 6:45 pm on Friday, April 22. A first raid was carried out in a house on Route Royale in Eau-Coulée where a 35-year-old man, whose work permit expired on August 27, 2009, was arrested. On the second floor of a building on Octave Adam Street, Eau-Coulée, a 42-year-old man, whose license expired on September 8, 2019, was arrested.
A third man, aged 37, whose work permit expired on February 7, 2021, was also arrested. The fourth illegal worker is a 41-year-old man, whose work permit expired since February 01, 2022.
These four foreigners were taken to the DSU office in Eau-Coulée for questioning. Checks were first made at the Passport and Immmigration Office regarding their identities before they were taken into custody.
