The Komiko Comedy Artclub (KCA) reopens its doors with a new play entitled Fami bien kontan. While the future of the theater is no longer in jeopardy, the financial situation of the troupe remains in the red.
In June of this year, Miselaine Duval announced the closure of the KCA, due to a lack of funds to pay the rent of the theater in Bagatelle.
Three months later, the news is more or less good. And for good reason, the troupe reopened its theater on October 1: “It’s a relief for the actors of the troupe. Especially since this theater represents our main source of income,” explains Alexandre Martin, a member of the troupe.
And for the occasion, the troupe returns with a new play, which is currently on display: “Fami bien kontan is indeed a new play that we have mounted. It tells the story of the family pressure that a young couple undergoes to conceive a child. But there is a happy ending that we invite Mauritians to come and discover. However, as we can only accommodate 100 people, it is important to call on 471 13 32 / 54 49 16 16 to reserve seats. Tickets are available at Rs 250.”
Referring to the financial situation, Alexandre explains that the KCA is only partially out of the woods: “The resumption of our activities will certainly do our coffers good. However, our situation remains in the red. For the moment, the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage continues to support us. For our part, we continue our efforts to save our theater.
