Elon Musk’s New AI Startup Created To “Understand Reality”

Must Read

Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk has declared the development of an artificial intelligence startup. The startup is known as xAI, it has employed former professionals of OpenAI and Google.

However, his earlier statement in which he said that he believed AI developments should be put on hold and the area should be regulated seems off track from his current work. He stated that he made the startup was created to “understand reality”.

However, he did not clear that what amount of funding the company received and that what specific artificial intelligence the firm intends its focus. The company’s website states the goal of xAI is to “understand the true nature of the universe.”

xAI will lead chat on Twitter Spaces on Friday, which might make public details regarding the company’s activities. Elon Musk was one of the first supporters of OpenAI, that created the well-known language model ChatGPT.

But the relations between the two have developed friction after Tesla CEO blamed the AI company as being liberal bias. Giving his opinion, he tweeted, “What we need is TruthGPT”, in February. He has differences in opinion about how ChatGPT functions and its closeness with Microsoft. In an interview he said, “It does seem weird that something can be a nonprofit, open source and somehow transform itself into a for-profit, closed source.”

A letter calling for a halt to “Giant AI Experiments” was signed by Elon Musk in March and has received about 33,000 signatories till now.

Musk stated that he had been concerned about AI safety for more than ten years in an interview with the BBC in April. “I think there should be a regulatory body established for overseeing AI to make sure that it does not present a danger to the public,” he stated.

Due to the data that AI companies use to train chatbots—software that learns how people engage by gathering load of information from multiple sources to fuel its knowledge and interaction styles—Musk has also aligned himself against these businesses.

The entrepreneur thinks Twitter should receive fair compensation because huge volumes of its data are scraped off the website.
