What Elon Musk has disclosed could “destroy the Mars program” and “smothering the Starship program.” Musk said that “SpaceX plans to launch about five uncrewed Starships to Mars in two years” along with expressing his reservations in an X post.
He added, “No matter what happens with landing success, SpaceX will increase the number of spaceships traveling to Mars exponentially with every transit opportunity. We want to enable anyone who wants to be a space traveler to go to Mars! That means you or your family or friends – anyone who dreams of great adventure.”
Musk added that he was excited about the prospect of “thousands of Starships going to Mars,” calling it a “glorious sight” to witness. “The fundamental existential question is whether humanity becomes sustainably multiplanetary before something happens on Earth to prevent that, for example nuclear war, a supervirus or population collapse that weakens civilization to the point where it loses the ability to send supply ships to Mars,” he added.
Musk continued by addressing “one of his biggest concerns,” which is that “a mountain of government bureaucracy that grows every year is smothering the Starship program. This stifling red tape is affecting all large projects in America,” he wrote. “California, for example, has spent approximately 7 billion dollars and several years on high-speed rail, and all it has to show for it is a 1600-foot section of concrete!”
Musk also said that he is concerned about Kamala Harris winning the US presidential election, but he went on to say that his “biggest worry is that a Democratic Party administration will only increase the bureaucracy that is currently choking America to death.” He declared, “This would destroy the Mars program and doom humanity.”
“It cannot happen. Your help would be much appreciated. This is a fork, maybe the fork, in the road of human destiny,” he added.
