On 1 October, two 21-month-old infants found themselves in difficulty in a fishpond at their home in Mon Repos, Pamplemousses. According to the mother and grandmother, the girls were playing in the television room, but the unusual silence of the little ones attracted their attention, and they were found in the fish pond. The two adults immediately tried to resuscitate them. In the meantime, the emergency services were called to the scene and transported the girls to the northern hospital. Unfortunately, one of the twins died shortly after being admitted. The autopsy concluded that she had suffocated. The other little girl was admitted to the intensive care unit, where her state of health was judged to be worrying. Sadly, she passed away this morning at the SSR Hospital. Her body was taken to the mortuary for an autopsy later today.
