Constable Purgus of the Red Earth CID was involved in an accident yesterday morning in Riche-Terre. The motorcycle that Constable Purgus was riding collided with a parked truck.
The constable suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to the SSRN hospital in Pamplemousses. His health condition is of great concern.
It should be recalled that following allegations of torture, Constable Baboo Ekantisingh Purgus, who was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Terre-Rouge, was banned from his duties. He was arrested with his colleagues in Red Earth. He was released on parole after posting bail of Rs 20,000 and signing an IOU of Rs 100,000 on Thursday June 16.
