A 14-year-old teenager studying in grade 9 at a private secondary school in Plaine des Papayes reported a case of aggression in his classroom on the afternoon of Thursday May 25. He reported the incident to the local police station in a statement made on the same day. In his complaint, he explained how one of his classmates burnt his left hand with a lighter.
In the presence of his mother, the Petit-Raffray resident described in detail how at around 1.45pm on Thursday May 25, during English class, one of his classmates in grade 9 used a lighter to burn him on the left hand. The student said he felt excruciating pain at that precise moment. The alleged assailant lives in Grand Baie.
Equipped with a form 58, he went to the northern hospital for treatment. The Child Development Unit of the Ministry of Gender Equality has been informed of this case.
