Another resident of Tranquebar, believed to be Sanjeev Kistopersad’s accomplice, has been arrested this Monday. His name has been thrown out by a local man who was stopped by police last Friday after being spotted on the Safe City camera footage. The man was allowed to leave after having taken part in a parade in which he positively identified Sanjeev Kistopersad. He had also told the police that Sanjeev Kistopersad, was accompanied by another Tranquebar resident and according to the Champ de Mars resident, both were carrying a black bucket and were on the Champ de Mars track on Friday afternoon. Sanjeev Kistopersad’s alleged accomplice will be brought before the Port Louis District Court tomorrow. This is the second arrest in this case since last Saturday.
It is to be recalled that on Saturday morning, metal objects, nails, iron bars and screws were found near the 900-meter pole. Members of the Special Mobile Force, equipped with metal detectors, assisted the MTC team in sifting through the trail. This sabotage act has been condemned by all parties.
