The identity has yet to be confirmed. However, there is every reason to believe that the bones unearthed in the courtyard of a camp in Trou-aux-Biches are those of a 28-year-old bricklayer. He had been missing since February 2022. Investigators are awaiting the results of DNA tests on the mason’s father to confirm his identity.
In any case, William Sanasee, the Franco-Mauritian arrested in Rodrigues on Sunday, has confessed to burying a 28-year-old bricklayer in the yard in question. He is said to have received help from Jean-Alain Plaiche, who is currently in custody.
The police are awaiting William Sanasee’s arrival in Mauritius.
The bones in question were discovered by members of the Major Crime Investigation Team on Saturday 18 November.
