The Bishop of the Diocese of Port-Louis, Father Jean-Michaël Durhône, paid a courtesy call, this afternoon, on the Vice-Prime Minister (VPM), Minister of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Mrs Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun, at the MITD House in Phoenix.
In a statement, Father Durhône highlighted that the meeting with VPM Dookun-Luchoomun was cordial and was an opportunity to introduce themselves and interact. He indicated that discussions focussed on the major issues in the education sector at primary and secondary levels, as well as on the Extended Programme.
Furthermore, Father Durhône stated that on the same occasion, the vision of the Government, the Service Diocésain de l’Education Catholique and the Church, were discussed as far as education is concerned.
During the meeting, the VPM and the Bishop also pondered on the ways in which the three stakeholders may contribute to the development of the youth.
