After the tea break, the Speaker came back to the House and announced that words like “sauvage”, “zaco” and “cochon” were uttered by Paul Bérenger against him. He added that he considered that to be a departure from the etiquette of the National Assembly. The Prime Minister then presented a motion to suspend Paul Bérenger for today’s sittings and the next six ones. Rajesh Bhagwan reacted angrily and he was expelled and named. Patrick Assirvaden was also suspended for today’s sitting and the next 5 ones.
Earlier, minister Joe Lesjongard was subjected to a barrage of questions on the CorexSolar affair when the Speaker ended the question time reserved for ministers. Much to the dismay of opposition MPs.
As soon as the end of this slot was announced, Sooroojdev Phokeer left his seat to the booing of opposition members who expressed their frustration and anger. Paul Bérenger then made a remark to the Speaker, who returned to his seat to say that he reserved the right to appoint the MMM leader after the tea break.
