16-year-old Akhil Ramally did not survive his injuries in an accident on the Route Royale in Bel Etang on the evening of Thursday April 25. The local resident was seriously injured when the Haojue motorcycle on which he was riding as a rear passenger collided with an oncoming motorcycle. The driver of the Pulsar motorcycle, Mohammad Ali Bilal Hosany, 18, was killed instantly. Akhil Ramally’s friend Yohans Coomar Bundhoo, 16, who was driving the Haojue motorcycle, died shortly after arriving at the Dr Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq.
Akhil Ramally breathed his last at Flacq hospital at 00:45 on the morning of Tuesday April 30. His body was then taken to the morgue of the Dr A.G.Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis, for an autopsy. The autopsy was carried out by Dr Seewoorruttun, and the Police Medical Officer attributed his death to septicemia.
The accident occurred at around 7.25pm on the evening of Thursday April 25th, involving two motorcycles, one a Pulsar and the other a Haojue. The latter was driven by Yohans Bundhoo. He was coming from the direction of Médine towards Camp de Masque. Arriving at the Bel Etang kalimaye, he overtook a bus at high speed, colliding head-on with the Pulsar driven by Bilal Hosany. The impact was so violent that both motorcycles were shredded. The movement of the Haojue motorcycle was seen on Safe City surveillance camera footage. This two-wheeled machine was riding without license plates. At the time of the accident, its headlight was not on.
Bilal Hosany was killed instantly. Yohans Bundhoo died shortly after arriving at hospital. His seriously injured friend Akhil Ramally had been admitted to a ward in the intensive care unit and placed on artificial respiration.
The autopsy performed on the bodies of Bilall Hosany and Yohans Bundhoo on the morning of Friday April 26 attributed the cause of death to multiple injuries.
