Bail Review: Vimen Sabapati’s Solicitor Asks For More Time To Study The Case

The Bail Review against Vimen Sabapati requested by the Commissioner of Police has been adjourned to 23 October. The case was called yesterday morning before the Chief Justice, Rehana Mungly-Gulbul.

Solicitor Aisha Jeewa informed the Chief Magistrate that her services had been retained by Vimen Sabapati. She has therefore requested a referral to study the case. And on 23 October, she will be able to make her client’s position known at the request of the Commissioner of Police.

Vimen Sabapati, former national Muay Thai coach, had to pay a total of Rs 830,000 for his conditional release on Thursday. He was arrested for alleged drug trafficking on May 3. According to the police, ten kilos of a substance suspected to be heroin, with a street value of Rs 155 million, were found in his Ford Raptor. The former Muay Thai trainer had sworn an affidavit in the Supreme Court on 26 May. He claims to have been the victim of a conspiracy.
