Nando Bodha, Veer Abhi Manuyu Trilochun and Maynanda Rajaratnam had filed an application for a Judicial Review challenging the Prime Minister’s decision to ask the President of the Republic to postpone the municipal elections on 16 June.
However, the Supreme Court has rejected it. We understand that the three applicants will apply to the Privy Council by way of a Special Leave. The application will be filed next week.

According to Nando Bodha, by extending the mandate of municipal councils, there has been an abuse of power on the part of the Prime Minister and the Supreme Court did not agree with this.. Nando Bodha’s claim was the fourth to be lodged in the Supreme Court since the Local Government Amendment Bill was passed on the morning of Wednesday May 24.
