Standing on the roof of a garage covered with galvanized sheets and clear foil, an aluminum worker was seriously injured on Tuesday morning, August 2. This after one of the transparent sheets cracked under his weight in Brisée Verdière. The man, 37 years old and resident of Poudre d’Or Hamlet, suffered serious injuries to his head and arms.
His cousin, aged 27 and resident of Goodlands, was in his company and gave a statement to that effect. He explained that he accompanied the victim to Brisée-Verdière to deliver an aluminum frame to a family’s home. His cousin was standing on the roof of a garage and he was giving him an aluminum frame at a certain moment broke through the transparent sheet to end up on the ground. This sheet gave way under his weight.
His cousin injured his head and arms. He was transported to the Dr. Bruno Cheong Hospital in Flacq in an ambulance, which was requested. After receiving treatment, he was transferred to the North Hospital where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
