Teenager And Her Mother Make Withdrawals From A Centenarian’s Bank Account

Must Read

Rs 175 000. This is the amount that a 15 year old teenager and her 34 year old mother stole from the bank account of a 101 year old woman until last Friday, July 15. The centenarian reported this case of theft to the police station of Saint-Pierre after the pot of roses was discovered. Mother and daughter, residents of the area of Chébel, Beau-Bassin, worked for the centenarian as cleaning ladies. They stole the old lady’s bank card to make withdrawals and purchases.

After locating the two suspects, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Moka, led by Sergeant Jaulim, accompanied by officers of the CID of Coromandel under the supervision of Inspector Ghoorun, landed in one of the apartments of the NHDC in Chebel where a woman mason lives. She had taken up employment with the centenarian, who was looking for a cleaning lady. With her daughter, she started working at the home of this old woman in Saint Pierre.

Having had the confidence of the centenarian, she and her daughter took advantage of the opportunity to make repeated withdrawals from the account of this woman and also use it to make purchases. After relatives of the centenarian were alerted to their activities, the two employees stopped coming to work.

The Moka CID was looking for them after a report was made in mid-July. Mother and daughter were arrested on the morning of Tuesday, August 2. The teenager was released on parole and taken in charge by her stepfather, but her mother was brought before the Moka court before being returned to her cell at the Moka detention center.
