Bruneau Laurette To Be Allowed To File A Complaint Again

Must Read

The social and political activist appeared before the Bail and Remand Court this morning. His custody at the Melrose High Security Prison has been prolonged until 16 January. But during the hearing, Bruneau Laurette has reiterated the request he made a month ago, that is to be able to file a complaint against the officers of the Striking Team. He asked that a representative of the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) be sent to Melrose prison to record his complaint. This is what one of his lawyers, Akil Bissessur, said as he left court on Monday.

It should be recalled that Bruneau Laurette wanted to lodge a complaint against the officers of the Striking Team, who had searched his home on 4 November where 46.25 kilos of hashish and 2 firearms were found and seized.

The proceedings on the motion to dismiss the charges have been adjourned to January 23, 2023, in the Moka Court. The hearings on his parole motion will continue January 9, 2023. The next appearance of Bruneau Laurette before the BRC has been scheduled for January 16.
