The 36th Outstanding Young Persons was officially launched on March 22 at the Flying Dodo in Bagatelle. Those interested have until April 10 at 8 p.m. to register. This year’s theme is Nou Zeness, Nou lavenir.
Organized by JCI City Plus and JCI Mauritius, this year again JCI is encouraging young people between the ages of 18 and 40 to enter the contest to showcase the commitment of young people to society in a variety of fields.
Nominations will be made in the following categories:
- Business, economic and/or entrepreneurial achievement
- Political, Legal and/or Governmental Affairs
- Academic Leadership and/or Achievement
- Cultural Achievement
- Moral and/or Environmental Leadership
- Contribution to children, world peace and/or human rights
- Humanitarian and/or volunteer leadership
- Scientific and/or technological development
- Personal improvement and/or achievement
- Medical innovation
The five finalists selected will participate in the International TOYP Program.

As a reminder, over the past three decades, JCI has honored such well-known figures as John F. Kennedy, Elvis Presley and Jackie Chan, among others. The award has also gone to other lesser-known people who have impacted the lives of others in their own way.
