Yenla Killa is preparing his comeback. Three years after his last album released in 2018, the artist who sings faster than his shadow, completely changes his style. Having made a name for himself through dancehall reggae, here he is dedicating his next maxi 4 to sega and seggae. Surprising? Not so much…
Bryan Ber, alias Yenla Killa, has always had music in his blood. During his student years, he remembers that his teachers encouraged him to make music: “From primary to secondary school, I never missed an opportunity to go on stage to make music. So much so that my teachers always pushed me to make it my profession.
Driven by this flame, Yenla was discovered by the general public in 2004 thanks to the track Chi wah wah of the group Sytem R: “At that time Wannado Production was putting together several compilations and as I was going to produce my first album with them, I was offered a featuring with the group.
This was followed by three solo albums and an album with the group Negro Pou La Vi: “It was at the request of the late Lin that I joined Negro Pou La Vi. This allowed me to record an album with them, then to play at the Stade de France and the Zenith in Paris with the group.
If dancehall reggae has built his reputation, it turns out that the artist has always been more connected by the sega and seggae: “I certainly did dancehall, because this is the style that the generation listened to when I started to make music. But, at the base I am a singer of sega and seggae. The public will be pleasantly surprised to discover me in these two different styles when my 4th solo album is released soon. This album will be much more root with more acoustic sounds.”
