An 85-year-old woman, who was returning home from a birthday party, was raped in her backyard in Rose Hill in the early hours of Tuesday, August 23, by a man in his 20s, who was giving her a lift. The octogenarian was at the party where her alleged attacker was also present. The man, who lives in Stanley, Rose-Hill, is being actively sought by the police.
A policewoman made a report of a rape at the Rose Hill Police Station on Tuesday afternoon, August 23, at about 2:45 pm. In the complaint, the octogenarian, who is still in shock, recounted that she was raped by a man she knows as Kinsley and a resident of Stanley, Rose-Hill, in the early hours of Tuesday, August 23 between midnight and 2am.
She gave a detailed account of her sexual assault, which took place at around 12am on Tuesday 23 August. After attending a birthday party in the locality, she was about to walk back to her home, which is not far away, and it was at this very moment that this man, whom she knows as Kinsley, offered to accompany her.
Arriving in her yard, the young man pushed her around before raping and sodomising her, she said in her statement. The octogenarian was unable to produce the clothes she was wearing at the time of the sexual assault, as she had washed them. She was admitted to the Victoria Hospital, Candos where the protocol for victims of sexual abuse has been put in place.
