From 11 December 2023 to 18 February 2024, a total of 1,312 cases of dengue fever were recorded across the country. Of these, 559 cases are active. Port-Louis is more exposed. 303 cases have been recorded in Port-Louis and 174 in the North. As of Monday, there were 102 dengue-related hospital admissions, 91 in public hospitals and 11 in private hospitals. 457 patients are receiving home care. At the multi-sectoral meeting on Monday, Minister Kailesh Jagutpal said that 13 teams of 25 to 50 people each would be deployed across the country in places where cases of dengue fever were detected.

Dr Jagutpal recalled that on Friday 16 February 2024, mass fogging and larcividing activities were carried out at Cassis, Les Salines, Cite Vallijee, and Bain des Dames. He informed that the Ministry of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, the Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Business Mauritius, the Association des Hôteliers et Restaurateurs de l’Ile Maurice, and Mauri Facilities Management Co. Ltd are providing additional resources and manpower for fogging and larcividing activities island-wide.
