40-Year-Old Man Attacked With Hammer To The Head

A family dispute is said to be the cause of a bloody fight in Sainte Croix on Monday afternoon, March 20. Pierre Marc Ramsamy, alias Momo, 48 years old, was hit with a violent hammer blow to the head. His alleged attacker is none other than the nephew of his ex-girlfriend. John Mackly Deloïc Swiffe, a 22 year old electrician from St. Croix was arrested. He confessed to being the author of this aggression. The health condition of Pierre Marc Ramsamy is considered very serious.

It was around 1pm on Monday, March 20, that Pierre Marc Ramsamy was found in a vacant lot, bleeding profusely from the head. His father Jimmy Ramsamy, 71 years old, went to Higginson Street, Sainte-Croix with his sister who found him. The victim was rushed to the Dr. A.G.Jeetoo Hospital, Port-Louis where he underwent surgery ӑ the head before being admitted to the neurological ward of the intensive care unit.

In his statement given at the Abercrombie, St. Croix police station on the evening of Monday, March 20, the victim’s father explained of having been informed by his daughter that Pierre Marc Ramsamy was injured in St. Croix and that he was in a vacant lot near a store on Higginson Street, St. Croix. They went to this place where they saw the victim.

This Thursday morning, March 23, Deloïc Swiffe was brought before the court of Port-Louis on a provisional charge of assault with premeditation. He was then taken back to the police cell.
