The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Eel River has opened an investigation to shed light on the circumstances under which a 10-year-old girl was drugged with a syringe by two individuals in a cane field in Britannia on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 10. The victim was admitted to the Jawaharlall Nehru Hospital in Rose-Belle.
It was around 4:42 pm on Wednesday, May 10, that this assault would have occurred. The victim, who lives in the village of Britannia and attends the local government school, was walking along Parakeet Street, Britannia when she was accosted by two individuals. She was near a store. The two men, the girl reported, forced her into a cane field. They then administered a substance into her right forearm with a syringe.
The girl was immediately taken to the Tyack health center where she was examined by a doctor. The doctor then referred her to Rose Belle Hospital where she was examined by a pediatrician before being admitted to the ward. Her statement could not be recorded because she was in a distressed state.
The Child Development Unit of the Ministry of Gender Equality and the Family Protection Brigade were informed.
