Dhaniket Rummun, 20 years old and resident of Palma, Quatre-Bornes was brought before the Bail and Remand Court (BRC) in Port-Louis this Saturday, February 25 on a charge of drug trafficking. This young man was apprehended at his home in the late afternoon of Friday February 24 in possession of a transparent plastic containing three hundred doses of synthetic drugs and two pieces of black adhesive tape, each containing twenty-five doses of synthetic drugs. A sum of Rs 7400 suspected to come from the sale of this drug was also seized.
It is around 17 hours 30 this Friday February 24 that a team of the Anti-Drug and Smuggling Unit (Adsu) of the central division led by the sergeant Gokhool landed at the residence of this suspect. This was after they received information that he was involved in illegal activities.
This information turned out to be true. After hours of surveillance, the team arrived at Dhaniket Rummum’s house. This search allowed the Adsu police to find three hundred and fifty doses of synthetic drugs. The market value of this drug is Rs 35 000. After his appearance before the BRC, Dhaniket Rummun was taken back to the police cell. The suspect will have to appear again in front of the court of Rose-Hill on Monday morning, February 27.
