In line of a free Education programme entitled Conservation of Threatened Marine Megafauna Species in Mauritius, the Marine Megafauna Conservation Organisation (MMCO) invites residents of southeast Mauritius, affected by the Wakashio oil spill, to participate in a free Education Programme aimed at conserving biodiversity. This is to support alternative livelihoods related to the responsible use of marine ecosystems and conservation. This Program will allow getting theoretical knowledge and practical skills. More so, it aims to acquire knowledge about the structure of tropical ecosystems and their biodiversity as well as knowledge about the biology and ecology of the marine megafauna of Mauritius. Also included will be their importance and impact on ecosystems.
Responsible ecotourism, understanding field research methods and using collected information to maintain ecosystem health, taking part in real scientific research and get practical skills will also feature in this free educational programme run by MMCO in collaboration with UNDP. This will enable divers to also become a certified CMAS diver up to level 2. And upon completion of the Programme, participants will be able to access new professional opportunities such as being a diver for NGOs and conduct underwater scientific research, work in marine aquaculture as well as become an eco-guide. The duration of the free education program is 20 to 22 days and will be carried from 20th July to 15th September 2021.

However, the constraints for participation in the program are any lung and heart problems, asthma, epilepsy.
