Celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee are already in full swing. The Jubilee concert is taking place on Saturday 4 June at Buckingham Palace. It starts at 10.30pm (England time) and finishes at 13h 30pm.The concert will be shown live on BBC One, with coverage starting at 7.30pm. You will be able to watch online via BBC iPlayer, where you can also catch-up with the event later if you miss it.
The Platinum Jubilee website says: “The evening will pivot around global themes that have been born, or evolved, during the breadth of Her Majesty’s reign due to extraordinary British and Commonwealth contributions including fashion, sport, the environment, 70 years of pop music and musicals – the latter curated by legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, featuring a special appearance by Lloyd Webber and Lin-Manuel Miranda, plus performances featuring casts and special guests from The Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, Six, The Lion King and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Ten thousand free tickets were made available in February, as a ballot opened to the public to enter their names. It closed at 11.59pm on 23 March. After the closing date, tickets were randomly drawn in a way that fairly reflected population spread across the UK, the Channel Isles and the Isle of Man, and BFPO.
Who is in the line-up?
Queen + Adam Lambert will open the concert, while Diana Ross is the headline act.
