Ezra Christ kyris Beema, 2, met a tragic end this Saturday morning, May 6, in a swimming pool in Pereybere. The victim, who lived in Flic en Flac, had come to spend a few days in a bungalow with his parents and other family members.
It was at around 11am that the child accidentally fell into the pool. He was pulled out of the water before being rushed to a clinic in Grand Bay where he was pronounced dead.
His body was then taken to the morgue of the Dr A.G. Jeetoo Hospital in Port Louis for an autopsy. The autopsy, carried out by Dr Prem Chamane, Principal Police Medical Officer, attributed his death to cerebral oedema.
An investigation has been initiated at the Grand Bay police station to shed light on the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
