Two Schools To Be Closed On Monday

Must Read

The cases are localised this Saturday. The Ministry announces that 0.26% of the population is infected, which means 132 new asymptomatic cases and two serious cases that had to be admitted to the ENT in Vacoas. The Loretto Convent in Quatre Bornes and the Imperial College in Curepipe will remain closed early this week for disinfection.

Schools under disinfection

At the Loretto Convent in Quatre Bornes, two sisters, respectively in Grade 11 and 12 are positive and at Imperial College, it is a student who has contracted the virus. If no new cases are detected during contact tracing, both schools should reopen on Tuesday 27 July. Cosmopolitan College, twice infected in a matter of days, will remain open but will operate with only 17 teachers out of 47, with 30 in isolation. The Private Secondary Education Authority (PSEA) has not yet given the order for a new closure of the school. The school authorities have not yet received any response to their request for a second mass screening.

Scattered cases

In the south of the country, in Souillac, the Dreamprice supermarket remained closed on Saturday. One employee tested positive on Friday 23rd July. He is a 20-year-old man residing Batimarais. Three of his colleagues who were in contact with him have also been placed in quarantine. A massive screening took place this Saturday as well as a disinfection of the premises. The supermarket should resume its activities this Sunday.

In addition, we have one positive case in Candos hospital, two cases in the north of the country, three expatriates attached to a factory in Piton, a factory worker in Rivière du Rempart living in Esperance Trébuchet and one in Long Mountain.
