Within 48 hours, men of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) of Curepipe have caught two of the three individuals who assaulted a 25-year-old man with a hammer and a sword during the day of Saturday, November 20 in Floréal. These thugs also took his backpack, which contained a sum of Rs 1500 in different denominations, his national identity card, his bank cards and various documents. The two suspects are Hansley Thierry Robette, a 28-year-old painter and Jean Warren Benito Monvoisin, a 30-year-old welder. Both live in the Residence L’Oiseau, Floréal.
It was around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, that the victim was assaulted before being robbed. On that day, the 25-year-old was walking down a street in L’Oiseau Residence when he was accosted by these three men before they hit him with a hammer and a sword. A sergeant assigned to the police station of Floréal, made a statement for the victim in the late afternoon of Saturday, November 20.
He said that following a request, he went to the Residence L’Oiseau where he met the man. The latter confided in him and gave details on the circumstances of his attack. He had injuries to his face, left elbow and various parts of his body. A patrol carried out with him in order to find his alleged aggressors was unsuccessful.
The resident of Floréal was taken to the Victoria Hospital, Candos to receive treatment. He was subsequently admitted to the ward. During the day of Sunday, November 21, he had his discharge. He told the police that he will be able to identify his attackers.
This investigation was entrusted to the men of inspector Nundoo of the CID of Curepipe. During the day of Monday November 22, two of the three suspects were found. Hansley Robette and Warren Monvoisin were brought before the Court of Curepipe the same day. However, the stolen items were not recovered. The two suspects were later returned to their cells at the Vacoas detention center.
