The Chris Hemsworth starrer Thor: Love And Thunder released last week. Directed by Takia Waititi, the movie is the fourth release in the Thor franchise. This 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic universe excited movie-goers and expectations were high. The has emerged as the second-highest Hollywood opening weekend grosser of 2022 drawing in $688 million.
Starring Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Russel Crow, and Tessa Thompson the film is just behind the previous MCU release Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which had collected 795 million.
On the other hand, the movie has managed to surpass certain other releases like Jurassic World Dominion which collected 355 million, The Batman which collected $220 million, Top Gun: Maverick which collected $120 million, Fantastic Beasts – The Secrets of Dumbledore which collected $79.8 million, Uncharted which collected $59 million, Minions: The Rise of Gru which collected $53.9 million, and Morbius which had collected 34 million.
Thor: Love And Thunder faces little to no competition at the box office and is expected to continue its box office run unopposed. In fact, trade predictions insist that the business of the film will continue to hold steady over its first week while seeing yet another increase in business over its second weekend.
