For more than a week, the water supply has been cut off in Bambous-Virieux in the southeast of Mauritius. And yet, this region has three members of the majority, namely Minister Mahen Seeruttun, Chief Whip Naveena Ramyad and MP Teenah Jutton.
Exasperated residents blocked several roads, forcing the police to intervene. They blocked the road with stones and tree trunks while demanding the intervention of the Central Water Authority. “Since 2 months, we have not been able to move,” said Alain, one of the local residents. The police have been sent to the site to calm down.
The police are already on site to control the situation. Two CWA tankers have been dispatched to the scene to restore the situation. They deplore the fact that the authorities are slow to take things in hand. The police had all the trouble in the world to calm down.
