Must Read

This is what Jean-Michel Ah Sen said in his indictment this morning before the Assises in the case of Eleana Gentil.

On Monday 4th October, James Jonathan Ramaswamy has been found guilty of murdering an 11 year a old girl back in 2015.

The victim, Eleana Gentil went missing on 6th April 2015 and her body was later found in an advanced state of decomposition in a search in Lapeyre Hill, New France. The autopsy revealed that she had been sexually abused and that her death has been caused by her fractured skull after a violent blow to the head.

The accused has pleaded guilty at the trial but has never expressed any remorse for the sexual abuse and murder of this young girl. In fact, he was of the volunteers who helped in looking for the victim when she was reported missing even though he had already perpetrated the criminal act.

The counsel for the prosecution, Jean-Michel Ahsen has submitted to Judge Lutchmeeparsad Aujayeb that the accused deserve a life sentence for such a heinous crime.

In his statement, Senior Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions called for life imprisonment stating that Jonathan Ramasawmy has neither not shown any remorse nor apologized for what he has done. He also highlighted that the accused had initially denied the charges.

The accused’s lawyer, Mr. Taij Dabycharun asked the judge to consider the fact that his client has pleaded guilty and has already spent several years in prison.

The Court is deliberating and will give out the sentence in the days to come.
