Organized by the Ministry of Tourism in partnership with the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage and the Ministry of Sports and Youth Empowerment, the Kiltir ek Langaz Kreol Festival started on Saturday, December 3 and will run until December 17, 2022.
As in previous years, the Mauritian Creole culture will be highlighted through culinary, sports and musical aspects among others. Three key events are on the agenda, a day of activities in Mahebourg starting with a regatta, a culinary exhibition, poetry and a big concert. Other events are planned during the week. A symposium on the Creole language will be held on December 7. As well as a “Sware Poezi” on December 10th.

In the company of his colleagues and ministers, Avinash Teeluck, Stephan Toussaint and Joe Lesjongard, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning and Tourism, Steve Obeegadoo, for his part, maintained that the theme chosen for this year is: “Nou Langaz Nou Republik. He said that the cement is the Mauritian language and stressed this: “Nou pe cause dimounes different age groups, we pe cause Missiers, Madames, young people – the cement is Mauritian Creole language.
On the other hand, the DPM suggested that “we want to celebrate all the different expressions in the Mauritian Creole language, in writing, poetry, health, crafts, in ‘Mauritian food’ all that reflect our Mauritian Creole culture and language.
