Laurent L’Entêté, Joe Enzo Romeo Louis, Gerald Carnen, Bryan Ricco, Jean Lajaro Meunier, skipper Louis Armand Alas and policeman Jonathan Rabot appeared at the Bambous court on Tuesday, where they are all facing a provisional charge of drug trafficking. The police once again objected to their release on bail, and have been returned to their cells. They are due back in Court on Tuesday 18 October. Their arrest follows the seizure of 58 kilos of cannabis in Black River on Monday 03 October by the Special Striking Team, under the supervision of ASP Ashik Jagai. The drugs came from Reunion Island. It should be noted that the case was referred to a special team of the anti-drug squad.
Cannabis, worth about Rs 150 million were seized, following an operation conducted by the Special Striking Team under the supervision of ASP Ashik Jagai. Three vehicles were seized by the police in the operation. On Wednesday, it is learned that the net weight has increased to some 58 kilos of the drug without packaging. In another operation, also this week, two women were arrested with a quantity of heroin and synthetic drugs.
